Home of the finest Gulf Coast seafood and some of Texas's most delectable restaurants, Galveston Island proudly welcomes visitors to this family-friendly event, where patrons can choose from Galveston's most delightful and delicious eateries for prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus - in attractive price points you're sure to savor!
Suki Poké By The Sea
Introducing Galveston’s first and only Poké Cafe! Suki Poké By The Sea is a sparkling new poké cafe with Japanese street food, Taiwanese boba drinks, and gourmet coffee on the Island’s East End near UTMB.
Suki Poké By The Sea is an innovative twist on the traditional Hawaiian Poké – mixing a modern Japanese American cuisine and a Café style experience with full espresso bar. With a fun and delicious menu, crafted by Chef Slevin Tran and inspired by the street foods found in Southeast Asia, Suki Poké By The Sea is a place where food is tasty, service is warm, and the atmosphere is fun and inviting. And for 2020 Restaurant Week? Suki Poké is offering up not just one incredible dining "experience," but TWO! Both lunch & dinner entrees will offer a Hawaiian Experience & a Japanese Experience, giving you a well-journeyed tour of what's made this eatery an Island fave in such a short time. Take a look a the lunch Hawaiian & Japanese Experiences, either available for $15:
- Lunch Hawaiian Experience: Starter of Spam Musubi (yep, Hawaiian-glazed Spam!) on Japanese rice & egg, followed with an entree of Pineapple Bourbon Glazed Whole Wings with Hawaiian rice and shrimp skewer
- Lunch Japanese Experience: Starter of Salmon, Tuna & Shrimp Nigiri with California roll, followed with Japanese Stir-Fried Yaki Udon Noodles with beef and shrimp.
The Strand is famous for its dazzling architecture, fun-filled festivals, and world-class shopping. But now it's got another hot spot for fresh seafood, delicious burgers, and fun nightlife - and that's Shark Shack. This bright eatery is located at 2402 Strand, literally steps from the Galveston Cruise Terminal and in the heart of The Strand Historic District. This year, Shark Shack is offering an all-day $25 menu which features a starter of Creamy Chicken Gnocchi, with entrees including Beef Bourguignon, and Mahi Mahi Tacos; followed with a heavenly Chocolate Melting Cake with strawberries and whipped cream.
Shrimp 'N Stuff Downtown
Just like Shrimp 'N Stuff Downtown! The original Shrimp 'N Stuff Restaurant opened in 1976 and quickly became known as "the place where the locals love to eat." In these past decades, they've had many guests visiting the Island from across the U.S. who say they wished they had found Shrimp 'N Stuff the first day they arrived! The brand-new Shrimp 'N Stuff Downtown is located at 2506 Ball Street, and is offering a great $13 lunch you won't wanna miss.
The 3-course menu offers a starter of salad or hushpuppies, and features a lunch plate of either 1 Catfish & 4 Fried Shrimp with fries & slaw or rice & veggies; Chicken Poblano with rice & veggies; or Popcorn Shrimp Tacos. Finish it up with a cookie, bread pudding, or key lime pie, and you've got an inexpensive, delicious meal. Of course, you won't wanna miss their $25 dinner menu, either!
Taquilo's Tex-Mex Cantina
Not jonesing for seafood at lunch? No problemo, cause Galveston Restaurant Groups's Taquilo's Tex-Mex Cantina is serving up on their own south-of-the-border fiesta just a couple of blocks away on Postoffice Street! For just eleven bucks, you'll enjoy some of the most incredible chips and salsas on the Island, along with a muy grande choice of three different entrees, including the following:
- Three Cheese Chicken Tinga Stuffed Poblano Pepper: Shredded ranchero chicken, in a fire roasted poblano pepper. Topped with Taquilo’s Texas chili gravy & pico de gallo. Served with rice & beans
- Summer Plate: One beef taco, one bean chalupa, chile con queso tostada and guacamole, rice & beans.
- Beef Taco: Seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese on choice of tortilla. Served with rice & beans
But save room for the cinnamon-sugar-coated Churros, cause they're nothing short of legendary. Head back a little later for the $18 three-course dinner!
Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar
And if your lunch date prefers sauce piquante over picante salsa? No biggie, cause there's Galveston Restaurant Group's Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar, home of "the Best Gumbo in Galveston" in the recent Galveston.com Best of the Island Awards. And their team is ready to show off just what's made it the downtown "must-visit" it's become! For only $13, you'll begin with a garden-fresh Greek or Caesar Salad, choose from one of the following entrees, and end with a New Orleans-style beignet.
- Chicken or Fish Sandwich: Grilled or Fried, served with fixin's and fries
- Chicken & Sausage Gumbo: Served with scoop of steamed rice
- Seafood Gumbo: Served with scoop of steamed rice
- Shorty Po-Boy: Shrimp, or crawfish with choice of homemade fresh cut potato or sweet potato fries
Not telling you what to do? But you really need to figure a way to enjoy a bit of a shorty po-boy AND the seafood gumbo. Seriously, the combination of the two is one of our favorite meals on the Island! (And be sure to head back for their $20 dinner menu which features their dazzling Shrimp Platter!)
At the new Texadelphia on Seawall, they know that when it gets right down it? The key is to do one thing better than anyone else. And here? That one thing is the Original Texas Cheesesteak, which the company has been perfecting daily since 1981. This Restaurant Week, that classic is definitely on the menu, along with a number of other "not-so-famous" offerings that promise to win raves.
For just $13, you'll start your lunch with a choice of chips & queso or pickle fries, then select from the following entrees, each served with house fried tortilla chips:
- Classic Cheesesteak: beef or chicken served with grilled onions & mozzarella on an Amaroso bun
- Stick-a-Fork-in-Me-Burger: served on a white or wheat bun smothered in our homemade queso
- Fish Sandwich: served on a white or wheat bun smothered in our homemade queso
Yaga’s Cafe and Bar, located at 2314 Strand, wrote the book on mo’ bettah food and vibes on Galveston Island. From burgers to hot-from-the-oven pizzas to weekend live entertainment to the jammin’ outdoor patio, Yaga’s Cafe and Bar is the place to go!
And their $10 lunch menu shows exactly why this Island institution has been the smash it is for as long as it has! After starting with choice of Carrot Ginger Bisque, Tasso Ham & Wild Texas Gulf Shrimp Gumbo, or 2 Guajillo Chili Shrimp Risotto Croquette with cilantro lime aioli, you'll groove right on to the main course which features choice of:
- Blackened Mahi Tacos: 2 corn tortillas, wild-caught mahi mahi, cilantro, cabbage, samba crème fraiche, rice & beans
- Shrimp Tejas: 5 bacon-wrapped shrimp with jalapeño-cheese sauce served with polenta with a BBQ drizzle
- Asian Bowl: rice noodle, spicy shrimp broth with Asian vegetables
Yaga's also offers a $20 dinner menu that's equally colorful.
